Dear old and new friends,

Thank you for helping with our preparation for the activities fair yesterday Sep the 22nd and we welcome all the new members that have managed to fight through to our stall and listened to our ramblings about climate change and campus sustainability. ;)

Most importantly we have 50 new sign-ups and had a lot of fun talking to each and everyone of you.

To get all new members on-board and engaged, we will add you to our email list and you will get regular reminders to our meetings, socials and events. If you do not get any of our emails by the end of next week, please contact us via email or signup again on our website. The reason might be that we couldn’t find enough time to type all the emails up yet or we didn’t get the email address right. Sorry!

Please be aware that our next meeting takes place next Thursday, 29th, 5pm in the Diamond Workroom 1. Please come along, meet our members, bring your ideas and find out what project we are already working on. There should be a reminder email for this in your inbox before Thursday.

In any case, please check out our website, and see what we are all about. Like us on Facebook, where we post regular sustainability news from around the world and watch our twitter stream if you got a twitter account.

As you know from our flyers, we started a new twitter campaign to have you help us improve our campus by tweeting #aimgreenuni if you find neat sustainability solutions or opportunities for improvement around our uni estate. With the hash tag, we can then trace the tweets and see where we have hotpots of goodness or shameful areas that we can learn from or improve.

Finally, we want to welcome you all to our network and if you are a student, also to our student society.

With lots of love,
Your CNU coordinators

P.S.: A few photos from our activities fair stall on Thursday below. With Juliet and Stephen hard at work! :P

Hello students and welcome (back!) to Sheffield!

We are The University of Sheffield Carbon Neutral Society and we aim to address the need to reduce carbon emissions and encourage sustainable lifestyles, both within the university and in the wider Sheffield community. A diverse group of university staff and students, we achieve this through informing and encouraging engagement and debate through events, socials, and various other media.
Member’s interests span a wide range of areas under the umbrella of sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, but particularly focussing on what we as a university and city community can do, including, but not limited to addressing waste, sustainable building design and efficiency low-carbon technologies and public behaviour and attitudes.

In addition to the main Carbon Neutral University network, we have a student society, CNUSoc, who aim to encourage awareness of the network within the student population and to educate and discuss the importance of the university becoming Carbon Neutral, and how this may be achieved.
If you’re interested we’d love to meet you!

Come and find us at the Students Union Activities fair on Thursday 22nd of September in the Gallery, stand 174 and/or
join us for our weekly social at the University Arms from 5pm on Thursdays.

We’re also looking for a social secretary for our student committee so please get in touch if you think this could be you!
