Changing Systems: Not Just Changing Lightbulbs
Building Pathways to Zero Carbon in Higher Education:
A Guide to What Works

This guide aims to help people in any position at a university - students, staff members and senior leaders - to build low carbon initiatives. Universities can be ‘living laboratories’ where systems thinking can lay the foundations for effective change.

The guide sprang from a 2-day event in May 2017 at the University of Sheffield with participants from universities, the local community and the Zero Carbon Britain project at the Centre for Alternative Technology.

There are a load of supporting materials and videos - see below for more.

Download the PDF below. The first of these is 11.2mb. The second is a more download-friendly 3.7mb but is slightly lower quality.

Guide online resources

This web page provides the full online resources associated with the document.

The guide, including materials and recordings, are the result of a two-day workshop held at the University of Sheffield in May 2017. More picture and initial impressions from the workshop can be found here.

We wanted to publish the individual stories online and hope they help and inspire you as much as they did us.
