Offsite Wind Generation (2015):
Working group: Renewables and Self Generation subgroup; Danial Sturge, Huw Birch, Andreas Penzkofer, Liam Hardy, Christopher Kevin Rosslowe, Christian Unger Outcome: Plans for a 35MW offsite wind-farm developed and submitted to TUoS Estates department in 2015. Presentation and brief available upon request. |
SU Solar (2016):
Working group: Renewables and Self Generation subgroup; Huw Birch, Andreas Penzkofer, Liam Hardy, Christopher Kevin Rosslowe, Christian Unger Outcome: Plans for a 40-50kW solar array on the students union developed and submitted in February 2016. Project brief available upon request. |

'Changing Systems: Not just lightbulbs' weekend workshop
Working group: Adam Howard, Stephen Folkes, Aaron Thierry, Dan Olner, Christian Unger, Yahya Abuelzein (film team), Max Fyldes (film team), Erik Coke, Rachael Treharne Description: A weekend workshop bringing together people working towards zero carbon universities across the UK, with the aim to discover what works in term of such large systemic changes in higher education. Speakers and workshop participants work together to develop a guide. Date: 13-14 May 2017 Outcome/blog: First impressions and what to expect next. |
The Future of Buildings - A Retrofit Showcase event (November 2016)
Working Group: Christian Unger, Kassandra Reuss-Schmidt, Gwen Chimonides, Rachael Treharne, Adam Howard, Nick Nuttgens, Stephen Folkes, Fionn Stevenson, Sarah Boddy, Zero Carbon Yorkshire working group and many more Description: A bigger event to focus on the need to reduce energy demand to avert the climate crisis. Low energy housing is essential to drive this demand reduction. We invited 5 speakers to speak about low energy housing. Detailed event overview available here. Prof Kevin Anderson talk + panel discussion - Delivering 2 degrees (April 2016)
Working group: Rachael Treharne, Gwen Chimonides, Christian Unger, Danial Sturge, Adam Howard Description: Prof Kevin Anderson is a key climate change scientists who we invited to get an expert answer on the question of when and how we should reduce our carbon emissions. Local experts Prof Peter Styring and Julia Carrell were providing plenty of expertise for any audience questions following the keynote talk. Outcome: Presented to Public Value Subgroup and Carbon Management Group in February 2016.
