Hello students and welcome (back!) to Sheffield!
We are The University of Sheffield Carbon Neutral Society and we aim to address the need to reduce carbon emissions and encourage sustainable lifestyles, both within the university and in the wider Sheffield community. A diverse group of university staff and students, we achieve this through informing and encouraging engagement and debate through events, socials, and various other media.
Member’s interests span a wide range of areas under the umbrella of sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, but particularly focussing on what we as a university and city community can do, including, but not limited to addressing waste, sustainable building design and efficiency low-carbon technologies and public behaviour and attitudes.
In addition to the main Carbon Neutral University network, we have a student society, CNUSoc, who aim to encourage awareness of the network within the student population and to educate and discuss the importance of the university becoming Carbon Neutral, and how this may be achieved.
If you’re interested we’d love to meet you!
Come and find us at the Students Union Activities fair on Thursday 22nd of September in the Gallery, stand 174 and/or
join us for our weekly social at the University Arms from 5pm on Thursdays.
We’re also looking for a social secretary for our student committee so please get in touch if you think this could be you!
